You can only go halfway into the darkest forest, then you are coming out the other side. (unless you have been walking in circles).

Typing from the Wife's office. Power to Dr.s and hospital established. Could have power at home in a few days, or may be two weeks. The electric company said they will have to rebuild the whole infrastructure.

They are calling what we had an inland hurricane. 89 mph winds the first round and 106 mph the second round. The winds were sustained for about 25-30 minutes both times. Sort of errie seeing trees snap like twigs and soar over the roof. We won't make the national news because there was only one fatality. And, wedon't cry "where's the gov'ment with the handouts. Gettin' to know the neighbors as we clear the streets. Some entire blocks were wiped out. Trees through roofs. Many streets still not open. Guys workin' round the clock. We were blocked in by thousands of downed trees in Carbondale and surrounding area.. Missed the house by a few feet. It is the first weather event like this ever. Being a part of history really sucks. Just have to sit tight and enjoy the cold showers and camping on the back porch.

I love the sound of generators in the morning. Almost wish I had one. When I get some power we can show pictures.

Glad you 2 are ok. Sounds like you'll have plenty of firewood for next winter. Will you be at Maggie Valley this year??

    Default Thanks Speedy.

We finally got power last night around 8:30. Internet just came back online about 30 minutes age (9:00 PM CST on Thursday night). The neighbors across trhe street still not on. The are having to rebuild the entire power grid in the city of Carbodale. Thousans of poles, hundreds of miles of cable, hundreds of workers in this city alone trying to clear debris from the roads and lines. One story said the were winching trucks down cliffs and back because they could no access the area they needed. In New orleans, etc. it knocks down houses. Here the huge, beautiful, old trees are gone. Took a lot of houses with them.

I really do appreciate the offer. You a good man Speedy.
