But I didn't know there was an event going on there. We have an extra night going home and thought we'd stop in New Orleans.
I was originaly going to ask for some advice finding a room, and things to do. but maybe I should skip it?

There's always an event in New Orleans. Try in Kenner out by the airport It's close to I-10 and only a short ride to the Quarter

Also you could check in Slidell. Just across the Lake. My wife and I stayed there last year when we went to the Steelpony Express.

We bailed out. We looked at the weather coming through and went to the north instead. We stayed dry until 20 miles from home. As usual.
