I need a little moral support. I just put a set of glass packs on my Valk and am on the verge of adjusting the pilot screws. I'm going to sync the carbs BEFORE I attempt the pilot screw, and I'm sure I can adjust the pilot, but need a little tech advice/what to look for/WHAT NOT TO DO, that sorta thing. I do thank ya for the help!

Hey! I remember you from the other board. I always enjoyed reading what you had to say. Sorry I can't answer your question, but hopefully someone will. Hope you will come back here more often!

With the help of a K&L tool and one made from brake line that I made off of Rattlebars home page, was able to do mine. OEM is around 1.75 turns out. I made them all 2.25 turns. Carefully turn them in, being extremely careful not to damage the seats, then out to 2.25. Honda maual says to sync first as you said, I read this after I finished adjusting the pilots then syncing. Oh well seems to run a lot better to me. Some have found that a few are stuck or extremely hard to turn. I lucked out. If you listen as you turn, you can hear a little squeaky noise that lets you know they are turning.

The gentleman said it all.

Be VERY VERY careful when you turn them in all the way. The end of the needle can break off if you set it too hard into the seat. Then you will have a small problem on your hands. The last 4 bikes I have helped convert over to glass paks we never messed with these needle settings..

Mine seemed to work best at about 1.75 to 2 turns out.......

To all...Thank you, Thank you, Thank you..... :D I also talked to a couple of wrench heads here in Pittsburgh, and they said the same thing, almost. They suggested that I turn the screw out 1/2 turn from factory setting, instead of going from the seat out. Also either bead blast the plugs or wire wheel them after adjusting the carbs, going for a ride, (which I really hate  ), then pull the plugs to see what color they are. They said if they are a "coffee" color and are all the same, STOP. A minor adjustment on one or two maybe necessary to get them burning all the same! What do ya think????

Again thanks...

Pull em and look at em FIRST....... You have to know what you are starting from, or as we call it at the shop, a REFERENCE POINT..
