Hi Speedie, I used to live in Millington back in 1966 while in Navy, Stationed at the Naval base. Was in training there for 4 months. Can't remember the address, but was in half of a realtors business with appt. on one end and business on other. Used to spend a lot of weekends at the big forest by the river. Nice place , other than being in service there. Harry

Christian, I'll swap ya'll the water for our SNOW.
Want to work out a deal of some kind.
We currently already have our annual 32" and got 9 - 12" more coming by tomorrow night. In fact it is snowing right now.
Well, got to go run the snow plow so see ya'll later.......
At least it pays some spending $$$$........ LOL
Not a bad job till ya'll break something and then have to get out in the cold and fix it.

Your going to have to get that boat in the water soon... I assume you still have that cruiser.
Lots of water. Rainy day here in GA.

Rode home at around 11:00 AM this morning. Been up in Northern Indiana (Topeka) and back home this morning. :snow1: Brushed about 4 inches of snow off the Valkyrie, started her up, let her run a few minutes and the fishtailed the 1/8 mile drive to the main road. :biker:
Rode the 25 miles home in pouring rain, temps 33 according to the two banks I passed. Got to within two blocks of home to discover they had not cleared the side streets yet. My only option was to fishtail all the way into the garage. :) I love riding to work in the winter. Everybody keeps shaking their heads, and the number one question: "Aren't you cold?" I do not get cold, but the "pucker" factor sets in from time to time, especially when you see a snow drift across your lane ahead. Good news, the boss just called and we are headed Christian's way tomorrow. Lafayette, TN and back. I better find some really tall boots.

I was there in 1968 in the Navy also. Bootcamp on the Northside and "P" and "A" school on the Southside. I hear the base is closed now. Bootcamp was in January, they made us wash our clothes and hang them outside each night to freeze. Then the next morning we brought them in to dry. Go figure.

Brings back memories. Myself and both brothers were born at the Navy Hospital in Millington (my dad used to teach "A" school on the base). Lived in Fairway homes the first time around and on Krosp Rd across the street from the hospital the second time. One of my earliest memories was of an F9F burning in a field near the house. It had crashed on takeoff.

Don't ring a bell, but I'll check with my dad - he retired as an AT chief but started out in a VP outfit in Argencia (P2V-1's), went to some VS outfits, then VX-1 and finished with the heavy's - RVAH 13 I believe.
My father in law retired as an ADJ chief - he was in a VP outfit in Bermuda (P5M's) and at one point, P2V-7's out of Whidbey and was in an A4 squadran during Viet Nam. He was on the Forrestal when it burned. I'll check with him as well.
