I was posting over on the Delphi Valkyrie forum. in answering a question about the twigger wheel, I made a statement that I thought was true.
Does the Interstate come from the factory with 2 degrees more advance that the Standards?
Is that why we the recommendation was for a 4 degres for the interstate and a 6 degree for the Standard?
Does the Interstate ICU make the difference?

Jack, when I purchased my t/w, I was told the I/S had advanced timming and if you put in the 6 degree wheel, the bike would have a bad pinging. So I think you are right in your statement.

If I rember right the IS has an extra 5 degrees at 3000 rpm. I think that is what Dyna Tech told me.
This is what someone told me at Prescott last year. It was an ignition vendor, but he wasn't there selling.
The idle timing is the same. When you give it some throttle the I/S advance comes in much quicker, due to lighter advance springs, and to stay away from a ping they only recommend the 4 degree wheel.
If you put in the 6 degree wheel you have to burn Premium fuel all the time to keep from pinging.
Here at home, I use a 90 octane fuel with gasohol, when I go to another state, I have to use premium if they do not have 90 octane.
