The problem is, I really probably won't know for sure until Friday night before the ride whether I can go or not. My 11 year old step-daughter is bi-polar and has alot of emotional/mental/behavioral problems. It really just depends on how she is doing as to whether I can leave the house or not. And the way things have been lately, I give myself about a 10% chance of being able to go. It really sucks, but we cannot really plan on anything for any part of our life. But that's just how it is with her.

I can sign up on the list if you want, but it's pretty likely that I'll not show up. I'm just holding out hope for that 10%.

OK...I finally registered. :pepper1: I really hope I can make this ride. I was talking with my wife about it and she said she can see if her mom can help with the kids in case my step daughter is having a hard time. So, hopefully it will work out. They did just change her meds today, so hopefully things will be good. If not, who knows what will happen?

My ideal plan will be to get up EARLY Friday and book it down to Wytheville to meet up with the group for the ride to Gettysburg. I've actually stopped at that truck stop a couple times on previous trips south, so I know where I'm going. That will give me a couple hundred "warm-up" miles so I will be good to go when I get there!! It's actually kind of funny...Gettysburg is about 170 miles east from my house. But I'm hoping to ride almost 300 miles (4.5 hours) south to meet up with a group of folks I've never met and ride with them another 330 miles (5.5 hours) northeast...AND THIS IS MY IDEAL PLAN!!!!!!:biker:

My back-up plan will be to get up early Saturday and meet up with the group in Gettysburg Saturday just to meet and hang out with everyone for awhile.

Saturday was a grand day...
We got up real early ... 5 am... As we still have chores to do..
Left the farm around 7 ish..
I rode TheBeast Don rode his SuperValk....
And rode up to Wytheville to do a dry run up the slab and look for the fuel stops,
That can handle a mass of Valks....
All was doing great.. We stopped at our Honda shop in Roanoke ...
Talked to our buddy's Greg (the Owner)and Adam(the Son) "Of Star City Power sports"...
The shop is 125 miles from the farm ....

We leave there and not 25 miles down the road,
Don's S/V. blows a fuse .... We pull off and change the 2 blown fuses..
It blows again as soon as he turns the key...
Ok no biggie I ride behind him and alongside .. So I can clock and keep the speed marked...
As he has NO speed /tach and tail lights what so ever...

Before we left the Greg's shop, He said hey you going to stop to see the guys at the other shop???
We said sure we hadn't seen the guy's there in a year .. And Our buddy Gary ( a heck of a mechanic) has a new Jack Russell !!!
You betcha ... I wanted to see the new pup !!!
Blue Ridge Power sports is in Harrisonburg.. We miss the guy's there Gary, Todd, Andy, Mitch....

So at this point Don said we need to turn around .. As he didn't want to ride in the dark with out rear lights..

All is going well….
Until I see this WHITE car in front of Don and ask over the CB hey does that car have a lot of antennas??? Yes he said ...Well I think it’s an unmarked car….But Don doesn’t hear me well…. I say again Slow Down !! The white car pulls into the right lane and Don passes him...
Ok slow it down , Dear now !!!!.. Then the car pulls behind Don !! No lights yet...... Now remember Don has NO rear lights..
So he didn't want to pull to the right lane or break ..... Now another car comes up behind me fast ...
And passes me on the right then the White car !!! Boy was that car surprised when the WHITE car flips his lights !!! Goes after that car ..YEAH dodge that bullet !!!

Now we are happy again....Then I ask Don are you fussing around http://forum.vrccdev.com/Smileys/alive/huh.gif NO he said wind buffing ... His bike seemed to be wallowing from behind…
OK ?? Then I ask how is the bike handling http://forum.vrccdev.com/Smileys/alive/huh.gif He said it seems heavy.... I pull up along side look at the tires ..
And holler your rear tire is flat !!!! We pull of the next exit that was right there...
By this time his bike is not looking and handling well.. He Limps it in to a gas station..

We find out how late the station stays open ~11pm... We ask if it's safe to leave the moto ,Yes... Cool We'll be back....

Now we are to our mountain twisty road…. Again I hear something … I feel like the Jamaican Bob sled team….
We made it home around 7 pm.. Don fired up the truck..
Hooked it up to the trailer grabber soft ties and tie downs and Pingle, and we are back on the road again….

Well two rolls and the bead was now fully broke… I just think he wasn’t thinking …
Oh well……
So now he’s trying to roll it to the trailer.. Yeah right !!!! Man was it not moving well, it was like dead weight !!
Then this big guy , I mean a huge of a man http://forum.vrccdev.com/Smileys/alive/shocked.gif, kind of looked like a wrestler Shaved head big calves, a real hunk of a man..… He asked if we needed help !!! Yes thank you sir…. Well he pushed that bike it looked like atlas pushing it…. They got the bike to the base of the ramp…
Then he looked at me and said come and give a hand….
Now that rim was spinning inside the tire the whole time .. We said 123 and it fish tailed up the ramp…. Went side ways on the trailer !!!

Ok Now with me steadying the front-end in the pingle.. Don the the big guy moved the rear end as straight as they could.. The guy went back to his phone call , we said thank you … He said no problem...

Tied down the moto and we are on the road again… And hungry !!! Well at midnight there isn’t much open in VA… Found a Waffle house !!! We pulled into our driveway at 2 am it was 3 with the time change … My gosh what a full day !!!!!!

As we head home we discuss on what to do to get the bike off the trailer….
My suggestion is to jack it up on the trailer and remover the wheel ..

BTW when a tire is that flat you can’t put the kickstand down …. So we first had to use my little bottle jack on the bike to get the lift adaptor on… And the big floor jack under it while it is still on the trailer….

Got our buddy FenderMender to mount a tire on a Sunday !!
He did it gladly….. The bike was off the trailer by Sunday afternoon…

Oh he hasn't looked into the dead short yet.... Thank goodness it's not one of them intermittent shorts... It's a full dead one..
So it must be in the tail lights some where....

The tire is in real bad shape ... When you look inside it looks as if the belts gave way... All lumpy in side...
