On my way south for Daytona I have been considering stopping at Deal's Gap for a day or two. I never really considered weather being a factor until now. I have started to look at the roads/routes, accomodations and I've run into a few places warning the weather and road conditions are not very good until late April :? Is this right? Would I be wasting my time in late Feb? Will the weather and roads (sand/salt/frost heaves) make it unsafe to ride until late April? :(

Thanks for any light you "southerners" may be able to shed on this for me.

On the 9th we had a little over an inch of snow here in Knoxville - on the 13th, I took off work early to ride because the weather was sunny & 60 degrees. You can't really make long range plans based on the weather here. I guess you have www.taleofthedragon.com (http://www.taleofthedragon.com) right? Even when the weather is nice this time of year, you need to be careful of the sand leftover from the last snow.

If you are going to be in the area for a couple of days you will have plenty of time to ride both until you are dizzy.

Thank you both ... I only had one of those links. I am going to plan to do it and hope for the best weather possible!
