I'm going from the Chicago area to Seattle and then down 101 to SF. I've taken most every way West that lies north of Oklahoma but have never gone out north of I94. Anyone care to comment on US2 accross MN, ND and MT?
I plan on dropping down to US12 through the Lolo Pass and then winding back up to US20 to Seattle.
Yes VC, I will be stopping at 'The Hog Farm' 8)
Hey C.A.
Did US2 a few years back. Started in Washington to U.P. of Michigan.
Was a good road then. lots of open area and small towns.
Just watch out for the grasshoppers and Sun Flowers.... lol
Great trip for losing your self in your own thoughts..... Of course
I was sure tired of seeing the number 2........
About any little back road above I-90 is great desolate roads.....
I believe it is #2 that I took one time and it was nice, but, I had to watch my gas stations. In other words, when ya saw one, fill up.
Another nice road is Canada 3........ It is a little slower traveling than 2 however..........
Go to a Truck Stop and look at a Motor Carriers Road Atlas. You can get a visual of the roads. The book is laminated and a little expensive. I buy a new one every 4 years..... My last one is a 2004......

Hey TJ,
How were the accomodations along US2? I'm not planning on a lot of camping and I know the motels can leave something to be desired when off the beaten path out West.
Thanks for the gas tip; I carry extra fuel out there and was glad I had it a couple of times.
I don't remember any problems there. Didn't do any camping
on the trip back...
