Poste by LaMont on the V8Board .

He's pretty sick and has trouble breathing right now. I guess his heart has a bunch of fluid around it and won't allow the heart to expand so he's not getting enough blood or air right now. He's a tuff guy but this is not something you can fight by willpower alone. Keep him in your prayers if you would, he's a great guy a a V8 power junkie.

Vman, prayers headed your way as we speak.

Did they diagnose it as congestive heart failure?

If so, take the water pills religiously from now till the end.

I've been on em ever since my spell in Daytona in 05, with no bad results.

So get well and get gooder in the process..... In a quick fashion please....

RJ.

I wanted to post a Thank you to everyone from Don, myself and our girls. It really means a lot to see all the kind thoughts and prayers being sent. Don has a laptop near him, so he is able to read everyones notes when he can. He has been listening to the Doctors and Me and has been resting and taking it very easy. We did find out that a small % of the people that do have this fluid around the heart, also develop a fibrosis that forms around the fluid. WELL... Don is in this % :( The scar tissue had worsened over the past week and it makes it real hard for him to catch his breath since it is constricting the heart. We are working closely with the Cardiologist and I am working on 2nd opinions etc. Thanks again to all of you! I will try and keep everyone posted as soon as possible.

Don and Kim and the girls:
Prayers will go up from Southern Illinois. Don, get well quickly, cause the spring thaw is coming. It will soon be time to ride. I still remember that ride home from Maine, an experience I will never forget. Heal quickly and follw RJ's advice. I want you guys to come to Maggie Valley and meet the new Missus -- I promise I won't chicken out. I ain't skeered. Love ya man, get well! :D

V Man and Mrs V Man, Don and Kim, I am praying for God's divine hand to be upon you now and to bring healing to Don's "Good" heart. Sometimes God allows our health to get our attention so He can communicate with us. I would ask you to look at Psalm 51 when David asked God to give him a new heart, pray those promises now and let Him heal you. God wants more than healing though Don, He wants your heart forever. So, if you really want to be healed, then give your heart to Jesus now and be sure of the rest of your days in Him! I love you brother and so does Jesus, and I remember you and Kim well, I am praying for you and look forward to hearing of your recovery soon, Blessings, Whiz.

Brother had the same problem last year he went to daytona and when he came home he was all bloated and couldn't breath the wife and i rushed him to the hospital they did some test and it turned out his heart valve wasnt working right. They gave him something to remove the water from his body that was putting pressure on his heart and lungs then he had to have surgery and have a a plastic valve put in his heart,he is doing fine now and you can hear the valve tick as it opens and closes,he has to also take a water pill every day. Lets hope this isnt his problem cause any surgery sucks but hopefully he will pull through what ever it is,V-man seems like a pretty strong guy .My best to him and his family that all will be well.

Just wanted to say a quick THANKS to you all. I appreciate all your prayers and good thoughts, think I'm going to need them. I'll try and keep up on all the posts the best I can, very tired all the time Kim will update all the medical "stuff" when she knows more.

Docs diagnosis is constrictive pariocarditis (I'm sure spelling is wrong), they are more worried about being dehydrated and getting water IN me then OUT right now.

I wanted to give an update about Don to everyone. We did see the Cardiologist down at Mass General yesterday for the 2nd opinion. He does agree with the diagnosis and how everything has been handled. Right now the fluid is gone, but the scar tissue remains around the heart. We've been told the problem with his breathing could last up to another month while he is getting better. Both Dr's also said that the fluid can come back and they would take a more aggessive approach if it does again. Also they have to watch the scarring and the healing of the heart because he is not out of the woods yet regarding possible surgery. We were told Don's heart is not at full capacity right now so he will have to take it VERY easy for a while. Don is feeling better for the most part but still has some trouble catching his breath, and is real tired. Thank you again everyone! We really appreciate it.

Thanks for the update Kim. The Dr's can do wonders with medication. Mine happened 2 years ago in Florida at Bike Week, "They have me on med's and every time I go in for a checkup they say I'm good to go.....

Just make sure he follows the Dr's orders to the 'T'. I was short of breath for about 3 months back then. Every once in a while I come up short of breath and hi tail it to the Dr. He keeps telling me, no worry, but come in when it happens.......
