Thank you for your prayers. They are going to operate on Jim Monday morning. They are doubtful they can get it all so chemo and/or radiation will follow, I'm sure. Jim has a co-worker in Houston that just went through the same thing and he is back to work and getting along pretty good, so maybe Jim do as well as he did.

J & V, You're in our thoughts and prayers. Like PIBIT, I'm not sure what else to say but to keep the faith in times like these, He can work miracles.

If you two need anything, we're there. I have tons of vacation saved up so if you need anything taken care of at the house, or whatever, let us know. I'll be there.

Wow......talk about a bummer, strange how things can be fine one week and the next week all heck has broken loose. Key to it all is being completely informed, both good and bad, and trust in the Dr's and their support staff.......arm yourself with as much info as you can, ask enough questions to make the medical staff aware of the fact that both of you are on top of this and watching their every move, know what is going to happen before it happens, ask the what if's....knowledge is key.

On a personal note, Jim....hang tough, things like this tend to make one question the why with introspection into one's past and what the future holds. Be strong, be positive, have faith and have trust. Good luck my friend.

Vicki......dang, you have the hard job, being strong and dealing with everything can be overwellming. Staying informed is the key to you getting through this because it will be you that gives Jim the 'real' information, it will be you holding his hand, it will be you going back and forth to the hospital, it will be you getting to know the nurses and the aides on a first name basis, it will be you wondering what is in the I.V.'s and when the next dose of medicine is to be expected....you'll know the chart's, the cafeteria, the shift changes.....even the best parking spots. You'll cry alone and with others, you'll wonder what could have been done different and what you can do in the future. It's not easy, it's not fun...nobody can understand what the 2 of you are specifically going through......but have faith and trust that all of us are standing beside Jim and yourself, fingers crossed, prayers said, well wishes sent.

Prayers for the both of you.

Jim and Vicki,
I hated to hear the news of what you guys are dealing with. Monica and I will both keep you in our prayers. I am glad that Dragbars called to let me know as I have not been on the board in forever.
I have learned from first hand experience that we are not given more then we can handle, it just causes us all to become stronger people to deal with the burdens that life throws at us.
You know you have a huge number of friends that will be praying for you and we all know that Prayers Work.

Jim, I look forward to seeing a post from you in the near future letting us all know you are on the mend.

Jim is recovering from the surgery better than expected, but the surgery didn't go as well as the Dr. had hoped. The cancer is more widespread than they thought. They say Chemo & radiation may help slow it down. I don't know what else to say, except thanks for the prayers.

Vicki and Jim,

Vicki, Hold the faith.... miracles still do happen... Anita's father a month and a half ago was told he had a very high probability of having lung cancer and afer the first biopsy they were still fairly convinced that he had lung cancer... They told him they had to remove a section of his lung for further evaluation...Even though the doctor felt certain he had cancer the results of the further test after surgury revealed an unknown mass that was neither cancer nor a malignant mass. What was it???????????????? They don't know...So he got a blessing of a life time at 77 years of age...It was not cancer so they sewed him up and sent him home.... :) :) :) minus a little of his lung.... and the doctor felt that only the power of prayer could have resulted a complete reversal of what they originally thought... but at least it won't kill him....Perhaps it was scarring from emphysema.... but they really do not know....

So don't give up no matter what the doctors say... If you want me to come up... you know I'll be there just call me and ask me.... Anita would come too if she did not have to work but for now I am off... and might come up anyway tomorrow......

Our prayers are with Jim and for your strength.. to believe that no matter how bad the doctors tell him it is... to believe that he has the ability to be healed totally....and put an end to this episode in your lives.

Jack and Anita.....

After what the Dr. today told me, I was at a loss............. Jim's ex-boss from Houston just called me again. He said he was given the same bleak news after his surgery back in April, but now his last MRI looked great. He is on a clinical trial they are doing at MD Anderson. He also told us MD Anderson is the only hospital in the nation doing nuetron (sp?) pinpoint radiaton, which has less side effects. They started doing it right after he had his radiation done there, so he had the regular radiation treatment. We may end up having our Dr. refer us to MD Anderson, or request a second opinion from a Dr. there. So I guess I do have some hope.

Vicki and Jdubya, after reading these post i must say that even though it may look bleek, i have a father who can heal all matter of disease. God said if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains. My 25 yr. old daughter was diagnoised with cancer 3 yrs. ago, just around Christmas time. through PRAYER me and all my CMA prayer worriors she is now cancer free. I believe that GOD the FATHER can do all things, uncluding curing him of cancer and giving you both peace. I would love for you all on this board to be in agreement with me and ask GOD to lift him up and show the world through healing that HE is the GOD of all that seek his face. Do not loose your faith in HIM for he can work it out. Right now i am in prayer for both of you and all that is conerned. When all else fails "STAND STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD" Be BLESSED my friends and watch GOD'S marvolus works.............

Google 'gamma knife' surgery which is what you are referring to. I believe there is a big center in Cinncinatti doing this. There are only about twenty hospitals doing this although it has been done in Europe for decades. It was succesful for Karen, the doctors just never were able to track down the main source until it was too late. This is indeed another way to go then conventional chemo/rad - read up on it and don't forget, I'm serious about my offer; I can take care of stuff and stay out of the way if you need help.

Finally got some news about Jim's possible treatment. We have an appointment for a consultation at MD Anderson in Houston for Oct. 20. We go to the docs in Chattanooga Oct. 17th. If our docs here are able to consult with the doc at MD Anderson via the phone, we may not have to travel down there for the consultation........we won't know that till the 17th. So, as of now we're planning on being in Houston on the 19th.
