I just talked to the Parkway Inn about our reservations. We still have 15 rooms available. They are so excited about our group staying there they have extended our block to July 7. If we can fill those 15 rooms we will be the ONLY ones at the hotel. There are also 2 hot tub rooms available. So all of you last minute people out there...it is time to decide. Hope to see you all there!!!!

Here is the info again:

Our room rates for the nights of July 21 and 22 are as follows:

2 adults - 2 double beds - $48.75 plus tax per night based on a 2 night stay. Any extra adult in the room $8.00.
1 night only $55.20 - 2 adults - 2 double beds.
Rooms with king beds will be $10.00 more. These rooms have refrigerators, microwave and coffee maker.
Hot tub rooms are $135.- plus tax per night.

Come on you guys it's probably the only time this year we can get the whole "gang" together. It's going to be a great time!

I made reservations (two rooms) - but have to cancel both of them. Curbrider can't get vacation and I am way too busy. Yes, I'm as dull as can be...no trips this year...probably haven't put 200 miles on the Valk all year.

I hope all of you have a great time. I will miss you guys and hanging out listening to PIBIT's music selections without the cops showing up.

Hey Ms. V........ you guys want some company. I was thinking of rideing down to NC again to look at a couple of properties. That realtor sent me the listing of a nice log cabin by you guys w/ 3.5 wooded acres but I've pretty much convinced myself that I want to be east of the range and up near Boone (but in the foothills - as JW and I talked about). Hickory, NC looks nice and is cheap living.

...looks like I am going to Frisco Colorado for the VRCC insanity, although there are still alot of things that still need to fall into place. Will leave there on the Sunday, be back home late Wednesday night, rest on Thursday and hit the road about 430 am Friday and be at the motel in time for dinner.  Yeah, I know...it sounds crazy to me too, especially since I need a new rear differential which I won't get until Frisco, assuming I make it that far. But, hey, I have new tires, new progressives, new brakes and a GPS now programmed to keep me out of the woods, not to mention portable speakers and lots of tunes...don't want to miss you guys...

Pibit,
You could just hook up with MichealP and head east with him.
And spend a week in the area, enjoying the scenery, and the roads.
Not all of them are as crooked as the road getting to my place!

I'm still kicking it around. I have to be in Miami that Sunday by 6pm for work. My oringinal plan was to leave PA early Saturday morning and staying the night in either Savannah GA or Jacksonville FL. I would really like to make Jacksonville (800miles) because that would leave me only a little over 300mi for Sunday before I have to show up for the banquet.

But then I started thinking about leaving Friday, hooking up with the State College Crew along the way somewhere in VA, and staying Friday nite in Maggie Valley. Then heading out Saturday morning towards FL. That would split up the 1st leg of my ride, but would cost me an extra vacation day (which I'm not sure I can get) plus another nite in a hotel. So I'm still thinking about it.

Does anyone want to split the cost of a room Friday nite?

...I'll see what's up with Michael when I see him at Inzane...all I know is that with my temperment, I have to keep moving once I start, until I stop, of course   I am taking two weeks however, and do want to take it nice and easy..
I lucked out... I got a complete 98 rear end of a valk with less than 10K on it including driveshaft and swingarm for 450...it is being shipped to Inzane and will be installed by an "expert"...I would share more but do not have authorization...but I lucked out with a trike shop that had everything left over from a conversion.
YEEHAW!!!

Greetings from Frisco Colorado...it has been quite an adventure with my new (used) valk differential. It arrived on time to the hotel, but was not packed properly...a flimsy box with a little bubble paper on the bottom on nothing protecting the top...when I picked up the box it was already ripped to shreds. It gets worse...when we got it to the parking lot for the install, as we started to inspect everything, we discovered
that the "breather " cap had been broken off and more importantly the little alumuinum shirt had been broken off the hub as well and quite possibly had fallen into the hub...the general feeling at this point was that the install would not work because of the broken off skirt and brolen cap. When Daniel Meyer arrived to do the workshop, he left it up to me as to whether to give it a try or just keep my bike intact and hope to make it back to Toronto as is...a call to the trike shop where I had bought it was at least reasonable...they offered me my money back if I shipped it back to them. Eventually, with about seven people all standing in the parking lot looking at this broken mess in the middle of the parking lot all offering opinions, I decided to have Daniel use my bike for the tech session and at least pull the wheel and see how bad my splines really were...well, guess what...they were completely shot...inside the hub there were no teeth left whatsoever....everyone agreed I would probably not make it back home with these splines. So, Daniel proceeded with the install, improvising along the way, getting my original cap off my bike intact and using some JP Weld to create a seal...to make a long story a little shorter, the install was successful and I am now good to go for the trip home....everything seems A-ok!
While I would still like to make Maggie Valley, I will have to see how I feel when I get home...leaving tomorrow and it will be 3 days home...unfortunately my back has been acting up and I am not sure I could handle a 900 mile ride home Sunday (for work Monday) after the 1700 mile ride home from here. I will just have to see...if I could take 2 days to get home I would probably make it for sure....I will post when I get home probably Tuesday when I know for sure. If I don't make it I trust you will understand, and know that I would like to be there...it all sounded good in theory, but it is allot of miles for me over a weekend after this little adventure.
Hope all is well with y'all...I will try and check back before I leave here and will let you know if anything changes.

As much as I'd like to make it, it looks like I'll have to skip it this year. I'll send Rocket a PM about it. Even if I did get there, I'd really have to be a party pooper anyways because I'd want to get up early and head back out on the road Saturday morning...so I wouldn't want to be up too late Friday night partying. I'd still have over 500 miles to my Saturday evening destination. So it just wouldn't be worth spending a full vacation day plus the cost of the hotel. I'm actually kinda bummed about it really. :(

Well Bob you will be missed.

Well, thanks. I am really bummed I can't make it. I was really trying to get to all work out.

So how are those bags coming?

SSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!

Actually I haven't even worked on them in a while. I switched gears for a couple weeks to install my Audiovox Cruise Control (including de-smogging) and my XM Radio/Amp/Speakers system. And since I also installed a relay-triggered fuse panel, and I totally analyzed and fretted over every step of the way(worried I would screw something up), this turned into a bigger/longer project that I had planned. But I got it done and let me tell you...those mods are awesome!! Then I lost a week because we had to travel out of town for my wife's grandmother's funeral. Then, since my wife's annulment came through (she's Catholic) we re-did our marriage vows in the Catholic church and had big cookout and all...mostly just family and a couple friends. So we had a bunch of preparations for that. And next week, I'm travelling to Miami, FL for work...a trip where these bags would really have come in handy. And on top of that, we are trying to take the kids camping, get to an amusement park, go to my in-laws camper, get to my parents cabin...etc., etc., etc. So it's just been a pretty hectic summer. And it doesn't look any better until school starts up again. So it is starting to look like last years winter project is turning into this years winter project. At this point, really there is just the final body-work (filling and sanding) left then paint. The mounting brackets/trailer hitch are all done (except final paint). And I've had the bags all mounted and fit up. So really, they are pretty close...if I could just get some time to work on them. I guess that's life though.
