Things here are going pretty well Brian. My mobility and flexibility has returned to about 75-80% which is fantastic considering it was down to 0%. I'm working hard at regaining strength which has been tough because up until several months ago I was unable to move my body and limbs in specific movements, let alone try to bear weight. I'm still dealing with some nerve related pain but all in all its bearable.
My balance is good, my hands are coming along nicely and I can finally touch type again. I have sat on several bikes and hoisting them, balancing them and operating clutch, brake and gear levers doesn't seem to be a problem. What is a problem is my bike
The last time my Valk was ridden dates back to new years day, 2005. After that ride I put her away in the shed because the weather got nasty. In the spring I pulled her out and set upon the task of cleaning some things and performing some needed maintenance. Also that spring I bought the Connie. Then in May...bang!
When I pulled the bike back out of the shed in September 2005 I realized that my carbs had gotten all gummed up and the assembly needed to be pulled out and each carb needed to be disassembled and cleaned. Hell after close to 100,000 miles it needed it anyway. To make a long story short I'm still waiting on a few parts to get everything buttoned back together. The #2 cylinder was allowing fuel to flow through and hydrolocking so one of the parts on the way is a new float valve. She'll start up and run good but I've got to get the hydrolock issue fixed because I don't want the problem to happen while on the road. I can wrench but wrenching on the side of the road still causes me some comfort problems.
Soooooo...I'm eagerly waiting parts so I can give myself the true road test that we are all waiting for. Laura is chomping at the bit to get back on two wheels so I've got good support. I'm ready to go out and buy a new machine so I can get back to riding and fuss with the Valk at leisure but I'm not really wanting to do so until I can take a few rides and know for certain that everything feels good. Once I know I can ride without being a danger I'll pick up a new scoot. We have been looking at the R1200RT and the FJR1300. I wanted the BMW last year but the Connie really fit the budget better. We'll see. Wanna loan me a bike and about 10K?

I'd be happy to loan you a bike if you were closer. As far as the $10k goes, the old saying you can't get blood from a turnip fits. Glad to hear you're making progress and I hope the pain continues to lessen. Hope to see you two this summer. :D
PS Drew is back to normal. 3 more weeks of college and finals and then back home for the summer.

LOL! I know for sure man. It won't be long though. I've waited 11 months so another month ain't going to kill me.
Good news on Drew. Good news for sure!
