Left Orlando at noon yesterday(Friday) and got home about a half an hour ago The odometer says 1106.3 miles. Not bad time for stopping twice to eat and 3 more in the last 300 miles to get a cup of coffee and warm up It was 30degrees or less since Fredrick MD.

Isn't there an IronButt thing or something I qualify for?? :D :D

Welcome home. Yep it was an iron butt, but it ain't official. You have to keep meticulous records documenting everything, then send it in, and mabe you get a scrap of paper. :D But they don't outshine the memories. :bow1: I would bet you are still grinnin.' :clap2:

I paid that association $$$$ 1 time for the 4 corners. Was to start when the 1st card was dropped in a mailbox of 1 of the corners..... Somewhere along the line the USPS or Iron Butt mail room lost my 2nd card, the one from Key West. So I was out the $$$ and no certificate. After that I knew what I had done on the bike and could of cared less what Iron Butt and Kneebone thought......

That is how I feel about it too. :D It is all about the ride and how I feel. Don't care if I get a piece of paper. I got a feeling that most of the riders on this board, if not all, could are less about that certificate, but I have been wrong before.

Yea it was more of a personal thing for me. Last year coming home from Cheaha (830+ miles) I was set to make it home in one day. But a freak Snowstorm that covered the roads showed up in Winchester VA, stopping me from making it home in one day. This time I had some incentive to make it because I wanted to be home today to see my daughters Play. I was going to stop and see Jon and LeAnn on the way, but that goofy weather showed up again and I decided to shoot up I-95 all the way instead to try and circumvent it.

It's pretty cool to prove to yourself everynow and then that you can do what you set your mind to, no matter what. I have to admit those signs for the Comfort Inn were looking pretty good at about 3 in the morning but I'm happy I pressed on!

FWIW: the Rocket performed Flawlessly. I'm really becoming one with this bike. I need to do something to keep the wind down on trips, but I like my Windvest for around here. Think I'm going to try my hand at molding a piece of Lexan to fit the Windvest Bracket.

See you at cheaha... I think it was about 70 somethin'

It started getting colder around N.C. I had to stop and add some clothes. It was 24 when I got in the door at home

Glad you made it home. That's a heckuva ride in these temps, especially through the middle of the night. I rode to work this morning...around 30 here...and I was pretty cold when I got here. Especially my fingertips even though I was wearing my heavy gloves. And that was only 8 miles!!! On the other hand, I only had on a pair of khaki's and my Columbia ski jacket, which by the way is very warm on a bike. Not much protection in a crash, but lots of protection from the wind and cold.

I'm looking forward to my 1st trip this year too. I may be heading to Springfield, MO the last week of April for work. That's about 800 miles each way. If they send me, I'm planning to take the bike. They said they would pay mileage up to the cost of the plane tickets...good enough for me!! 8)
