Our temp is 46, wind chill is 37, BUT, just for ya'll South of the Mason Dixon line, I did about 100 miles today...

Thank the man from above for the electrics. They do work if you put them on properly. You know like a T-shirt, the electrics and the n a heavier shirt and finally your Joe Rocket.......

Hey RJ. Doesn't Iowa use lots of salt on the roads? Although my valk is temporarily holed up I will try to ride once in awhile but I wait until a rain comes to wash the salt off.the roads. Indiana DOT must get a special price on salt! I definitely don't want to clean the salt off the bike.

Otherwise I'm set. I have a Widder vest and an Areostitch Darien.

They now use some kind of liquid that is slicker than sn*t when it is first applied. It is supposed to work from the bottom up. It has to be applied BEFORE a snow fall.......

If the roads get real bad then out comes the salt.

I just avoided all the water holes and rode in the tire path. Actually the roads were pretty clear of junk......

The bike just took a quick wipe down and she is back in hibernation.

I stabilize the fuel, change the oil, ride when I can, restabilize the fuel cause I usually run out a tank full, then change the oil again in the spring.

I try to ride at least one day a month all winter. Come h*ll or high water.

Solo1 is right, it is liquified salt they spray on the roads with abundance. It sticks to windshields like muddy water. They spray, and spray, and spray again. However, a quick hose down and the bike, vehicle, is clean. Then a quick wipe and all is well. They do it here too. In the warm weather, I take steel wool and muthers wheel polish to the rims to bring them back to life. It has worked for three winters here. I can't stop riding just because of a little snow. But I do use extreme caution. I love it when folks pass shaking their heads. Most asked question: "Are you cold?" Not this year, Widder gloves and thinsulate and no cold . . . yet.

I think the guy down at the city garage told me it was some kind of a liquid cloride. Short memory when it comes to this crap.

He said a lot of states got a deal on it and have been having fun spraying it around.
