Lost my Valk this weekend in a rear end collision from another bike. 3 Day weekend ride through northern Arkansas up Hwy7 to Harrison crossed to Mnt Home then south on 5 and 9 to 65. Beautiful ride until I was rear ended by one of my group on 65. Never saw my signals and slammed into my rear around 65mph.
Tore my left shoulder socket up with four fractures and chips, right elbow chewed up with many stitches. Lots of road rash but greatful to be home and repairable. The bike is totaled and am trying to decide to buy it back from Progressive or start over!

sorry about your accident but glad you're gonna be OK.
Seems there has been way too many accidents this riding season.
Sure hate to read stuff like this.

Glad you're going to be OK!

I had the same decision to make when the deer totaled my Valk. I decided to start over. I didn't accept the first offer Progressive made for my bike. The second offer they made was much better!

Thanks for all the support guys I finally got a picture up this morning and to me the bike doesn't look that bad, but the estimate on repair is 9k!
Tank, fairing, windshield, front and rear fenders, crash bars, radiator pods, and both saddlebags, sidecovers, tailpipes, highway bars, add up to a lot of money quickly.
This is a bike I have loved to ride and tinker with for a few years and I hate to see it go to the salvage yard.

Glad your okay, depending upon what Progressive wants for it, it might be worth to buy it back anyway, lots of spare parts and probably pretty high resale on even some of the damaged parts

Getting healed is the first priority. I agree with Maddog. Usually the buy back price is pretty low. And it looks like you could make a profit after selling the salvageable parts.

Hope you heal quick.
I was checking out some stuff on eBay and it seems you can get almost more if you part your bike out than if you sell it in one piece. $800 for a tank, almost $150 for a side bag lid without hardware, $200 for the rest of the bag (still no hardware). I guess that's the price you pay for having a discontinued bike that with fairly limited production numbers.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but at least you walked away from it. That counts big time.

Heal quickly and correctly.

If you should buy it back and decide to part it out, I'll take that I/state ICM off your hands.......

Progressive quoted me 11,680 for my property damage, bike, helment, boots, pants, watch.
Limits of liability of the other riders insurance was 10,000! So 10k is what I get.
Offered 7,500 and I keep bike. If I wasn't in a cast on my right arm, sling on my left I would dicker with them but I'm unable to do anything with it.
I'll let them take it and I'll sell on e-bay some of the extras that weren't on the bike.
Anyone want a brand new Utlimate LoBoy Solo saddle at a deal?

Check to see if you have UNDER insured coverage on your policy. That kicks in when the limits of the other party are exceeded, and you should get the full value of what the bike is worth. It's not your fault that the other guy didn't have enough coverage. Or take him to court for they balance.
