I will probably be travelling to New Bern, NC over the weekend of June 11th for my buddy's wedding. Since my wife does not really want to go and bring the baby and all that on a 12+ hour drive (not including stops for the baby, etc.) I am going to take the Valk and turn it into a nice 600+ miles bike trip each way. I am trying to get another buddy of mine to ride along on his HD Softail to make it even more fun.
So, I know there are a bunch here from the NC area. Does anyone have a recommendation as to where would be a good place to stay...say within 30-45 minutes of New Bern, NC? I am looking for inexpensive, but not a total scumbag motel either. A quick look says I can stay at a Travelodge for about $60/night, or at Comfort Suites or Holiday Inn Express for around $95 per night. So something in that range, or even cheaper if you know of a place. I have already been warned to stay away from the Days Inn as it is in a not so nice neighborhood. I should arrive Friday evening, and will probably be checking out Monday morning.
Right now, I am leaning towards the Travelodge as it appears that it is more of a motel where I could park the bike outside the room. But I still have to check it out with my buddy down there.
