View Full Version : Bad luck with my Iway

First off I don't think this is a Iway problem, I just think it is the luck of the draw with any electronic piece of equipment.

I love the unit but mine has a problem for sure, the good thing is it died completely instead of just an interment problem. When I first got the unit and had it on for several hours I noticed that the back was getting pretty hot. It has a big heat-sink where the mount was so I thought it might be normal. Then at one point it would just shut off. I turned it back on and the only thing that would come on is the first screen and then it would act like it was rebooting. Then I would try and turn it off and it wouldn't shut off. I would unplug the power and then plug it back in and it seemed to be fine.
Well yesterday it did the same thing but I never could get it to come back on. Then I noticed it had blew a fuse in the power outlet. I got new fuses but as soon as I plugged it in to the unit it would blow. There must be something shorted out in the unit.

I still think this thing is great and I wouldn't let this discourage you from buying one. The bad thing is that I am leaving on a trip this Friday and I hope somehow they can get me a new unit before I leave or I'm going to be bummed. :(

Looks like Lowrance is going to take care of me. They are doing a "cross ship" to get a new unit to me. They normally would like to see the unit and then repair or replace the unit but because I told them I was leaving on a trip this Friday they went ahead and took care of this by sending out a new unit. They will charge my card and when they get the old unit back they will issue a credit. I paid an extra 20 bucks to have it next day aired just so I could test it before I left. They are sending a return tag too so all I have to do is box it up and they will come and pick it up. This makes me very happy.
