That is really NICE - thanks for the link! Not sure if "sulking" will get me one though :? Kim is getting tougher on me ... maybe I can convince her that would make a GREAT birthday present ... think she could get it by tomorrow?

Lamont...when I was discussing what would be the best Garmin Unit for my application (Truck/Motorcycle), I was interested in the 2620 which also has a hard drive. The salesman told me that a hard drive would not be good on a motorcycle because of the vibration and then told me that I could get a flash card with a large storage capacity that will do the same thing. Just a thought.

Not the same as the Garmin.

The good news doesn't stop there. The iWay has a built in, rugged 20GB hard drive that is designed to withstand even the roughest big-twin vibration. Half the hard drive is used for the Navteq North American detail maps, which are all factory-loaded (updates are available annually on CD/DVD disks) Operation is touch-screen simple, allowing quick entry of destinations (a feature we really love on the Garmin 2610/2620), and the map can be displayed either in a normal overhead view, or a 3D "bird's-eye" perspective.

I've been thinking about this unit myself for some time now to replace my old Garmin 176c. They also have two additionnal models to be released this summer with a 7 and 10 inch screen. The iWay500 is probably plenty big enough with a 5 inch screen, a bigger screen will look too "nerdy" on a bike :?
I've been trying to locate a unit somwhere local to check it out with no luck so far. Did you get one ? I see that your old one is now for sale.

Mine just came in today as so far I really like it. I was going to hold out for the bigger screen too but now I'm glad I didn't. If this was much bigger I couldn't use it in my truck because I wouldn't be able to look over the top of it. I can't believe how fast it makes a route and finds an address. Now I need a good set of headsets for a full face helmet. Got any recommendations?

I have a 3/4 HJC helmet that I use on my Caponord and I installed a set of Sony headphones with some velcro tape inside the ear cups. The wires run under the liner and I just pull the cord to connect to my MP3 player. It's not a great solution but I only spent $15 on the setup. I'm now thinking of installing bigger headphones to get better seal on the ears and maybe drilling a hole in the shell of the helmet to install a mini stereo connector. I also looked at some helmets from J&M (I think) with pre installed headphones but they are very expensive and the quality of the headphones is VERY bad. I tested a set at Americade last year and was very disapointed. They're probably good enough to use with Intercom and CB but not for music.
Another solution that I also used is a set of plug style earphones like Sony Fontopia. They fit inside the ear canal and it's easy to wear a helmet but it's a little more hassle and sometimes they pop out of the ear when you accidently pull on the cord while riding.
Of course, when riding a real bike like my Road Glide you don't need no stinking headphones because the radio comes with the bike :D
