Hey all,
Just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of this type of scam. Had it played on me, but I didnt fall for it.
You are selling something that you list on line, maybe in a classified ad on here.. or on Ebay.
"Buyer" contacts you and says they are looking for just that item and want to buy it. They are in another country and cant get it there. They will be glad to arrange for shipping and pay you extra for your troubles. $$$
They will send you a Cashiers Check on a US bank for more then the amount and the extra money is for you and to cover the shipping.
The only thing is that the cashier check is NO GOOD... Fake...but on a real bank. They want you to go cash it fast and send the extra money in cash through western union to them or to a "shipper" (them) and you can keep the extra... Yea Right...You lose...
By the time that you bank finds out that the check you deposited was no good, you have already sent cash out of the country and you have NO CHANCE of getting it back...
The moral of this.. Remember what Mom told you... "If it sounds to good to be true..."
I let them sent the check, and then called the bank it was drawn on... Yup.. No good.. and nothing that they can do.
Be safe out there.. On the road and on the net.. Just be smart.
