As you know, many Valk owners are running with car tires on the rear.

My question is: Does the Boss use a car wheel on the back or a motorcyle wheel made to car specs. Do they use a car tire?

I retired from Magnavox as an associate engineere in environmental testing (vibration, shock, temperature, reliability, and many other tests)I was trained to NOT assume anything so I'm wondering about car tires on MC wheels (rims).

The older Boss Hoss's came with a care tire on a car rim. Mine has a car tire. The new Boss's come with a MC tire (standard Avon 230) but some guys are putting car tires on the new bikes.

I love my car tire on my Boss but I would not run one again on a Valk. I went through two of them before I switched back to a Avon on the Valk. People can say what they want but an Avon on a Valk will handle much better than a car tire on a Valk.

Thanks Lamont. I suspected such. Since the Boss is made and sold for use (pretty obvious), I would think that they couldn't take a chance on a lawsuit involving mismatching car tires on motorcycle wheels.

As for handling, I agree with what you say. I wouldn't want to put a car tire on my Valk since I didn't like the handling when the original rear Dunflop flattened out. The car tire's flat tread, it would seem to me, would really give a lousy "changeover" from straight ahead ridng to leaned over.

Getting back to the Boss Hoss, I will never ride one-----I know that I'd like it and while I wouldn't get kicked out of the house if I bought one, I would definitely shoot my retirement budget in the butt! LOL.

Thanks again
Wayne

The avon 230 is not a good tire in inclimate weather. I like a round tire but if I had my "druthers" it'd be a 240 or 250 rear. Many people are grooving thier 230s. I like it on dry pavement, it scares me on wet roads and I don't like riding with it with my wife on back when it is wet out.
