since last i checked, there were 17 folks on the waiting list for "ground zero" up on top, i just want to remind everyone the Holiday Inn Express in Oxford...off of hiway 78...is the "official" backup hotel for the event. they have 20 rooms blocked off for us....and if you mention the Valkyrie group/Cheaha event, you'll save 16 bucks on your room. We'll try and make sure that if one of you gets a bit 'tipsy' after all the free beer up on top of the mountain...that we'll either let you crash on the floor in one of our rooms...or take you down the mountain in a vehicle (leaving your bike up on top). Either way, we'll work things out. One of our staff members for the event is staying at that Holiday Inn hotel and will assist with info and directions and the like.
The phone number for reservations is 256-832-4041. Might i suggest...for those who already are on the waiting list up top...stay on it....get a reservation "down below"...and see how it works out. You can always cancel "down below" if things work out. But the management at the lodge at Cheaha have assured me no way 17 rooms are going to become available.
