The wife and I are trying to find one of those little out of the way cabins on a secluded lake in upstate NY or there abouts. Looking for something we could rent for a week $500-$800, that sleeps at least 4, with indoor plumbing, and lake front are a must. Allowing pets would be a plus.
We've searched the web and found some candidates, I'd appreciate if anyone could recommend a place.
Thanx

Scott this might not be a lot of help but I have had pretty good luck locating properties just about anywhere using vacationrentals.com

Here is another website you can use http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/new-york I've had luck with it in the past.
Lots of great riding in that area ... you guys bringing the bike?

It's possible. We'll have the girls so if I ride I'll be solo. Thanks Warren and Don, I'll have to check those websites out!!!

We were supposed to stay there with another couple but a family emergency interrupted our plans. When we finally made it up there we stayed just down SR-3 in Tupper Lake at the Tupper Lake Motel.
As far as motels go, the Tupper Lake Motel was great. The owners were INCREDIBLY friendly and BIKER friendly. We had initially planned on staying just one night and then traveling around but their hospitality encouraged us to stay 5 days. We ended up launching a bunch of day trips from what turned out to be a great location.
If you stay in Saranac Lake I would suggest a one day trip up to Ottawa. It's a beautiful city! Man there's some beautiful riding in that area Scott. SR-3, SR-30 & SR-56 are fantastic. Ausable Chasm out on SR-9 over by the Burlington - Port Kent ferry is a great place to stomp around with the kids.
Give me a shout when you head up that way and we'll talk a bit. It'll be a much more pleasant experience than NYC. :D
