Hey Guys,
Went out to wipe down my Valk, I was in withdrawl, have not been able to ride for two weeks!

When I got down on the ground to polish the engine guard I saw a drop of oil on the front header pipe on the left side. I laid down and looked around for the source. It was coming from the shifter. It was damp and was just a drop. It has been in the 20's at night and the bike has 44,000 miles on it. This is also the "down" side (left) of the engine when on the side stand. The bike has also sat for 15 days.

I was wondering if maybe the combination of cold, and inactivity could cause the seal to shrink a tad?

Anyone seen this or have any ideas?

Could very well be that the seal got hard and let a little oil by. If you can warm it up and wipe it down to see if it still leaks.

Don,

Could it be left over from doing a valve job? check under the bike and check that gasket between the valve cover and engine and see if it straight.

Did you do the ride yesterday?

Don I think that you have a cold weather oil leak, most of the leaks will show up in cold weather,It may not leak when the weather warms up.Iam a retired trucker (owner operator) and every winter antifreeze leaks would show up when it got really cold than when it warmed up a little they would go away, maybe this is what you have, Good luck with it!! Thanks All,

I wiped it down and rode it for a while to get up to operating temp. Then rode aobut 150 miles Sunday. So far just a liitle oil sweatng out but no drip.

I am going to look at the manual to see, but I assume to replace the seal the transmission would have to be opened up.

Glad I bought the extended warranty, if it gets worse I'll see if Honda will cover it.
