I am not normally a religious person and it is often said that the first time we get in a jam, we ask for help from god. Now I find myself in that same situation. Last Tue my mom Joyce went into the hospital for elective surgery on her back. What was supposed to be a routine 3-4 hour operation turned into a 14 hour operation that has left her in ICU. The orthopedic surgeon lacerated(that word chosen by the Dr that had to try and fix the problem) the aorta in the region that it splits into each leg. They will be trying to get the abdomen closed tomorrow but due to swelling, it may take at least one more. They told us that she needed 6 units of blood and that she experienced a cardiac "event". Im not sure what that is. She also had a collapsed lung and there may be kidney issues too. She is currently on a vetilator. On top of that, the back operation was not finished. As family and me are going through this with my mom I think we can use all the help we can. Thanks

You have prayers sent from Colorado. God bless.
Thoughts and prayers to your family. When things like this happen to someone so close as an immediate family member it makes it hard not to ask "WHY?". We aren't meant to understand the "why" or to question it, just pray God's will to be done and hope you all come through it with as little heartache as possible. I certainly am not one to preach, but after a prayer has been answered, it sure is too easy to forget it was asked or answered, isn't it? Sure has been easy for me anyway, hopefully not as easy for the rest of you...

I have personally gone through some really botched surgery, but I'm still here to tell the tale: so with all the good wishes and prayers she has a great chance with all her family and friends pullling for her, hang in there.

That's one of the main reasons I have not done anything about
my back, just to many chances of something going wrong.
My Prayers are with you and your family.

Well RdKill I always said.....anytime is a good time to ask God for help!
 And as much as he loves us and wants to help all need to do is ask him and he is faithful to make himself true. May every blessing that God has for you and your family become realized and real in your life.
May he heal your Mom as I know how much a mother s love means to her son. Blessing and peace upon your family during this season in your lives.
Amen...

Prayers for you and your mom. God never closes the door on one of his children and it gladdens him when asked.
