Ok, mother nature is playing a very rude joke on us southern boys. It is colder here than in Colorado. I need some some good cold weather gloves!!! My fat stubby fingers are getting cold in my regular fur lined winter gloves. What do you northerners do for GOOD GLOVES?????
My XMAS Day ride is now in jeopardy.

Living in Illinois I've been going through the same thing. I've tried all kind of leather gloves/liners and haven't found anything that works. The opinions that I received though point to Gerbings(?) heated gloves. The only reason I haven't tried a set myself is when winter comes I'm not a hard core rider and mine gets put away after the 1st Sunday in December, and there are only a few special rides that I do between end of Oct and then so I put up with the numb fingers.

Style 118
Waterproof, nylon back, leather palm, Thermolite, polar fleece lining. Our warmest glove. Recommended by RIDE magazine in Great Britain the last two years; out-performed the BMW Gortex winter glove. Sizes 6-12

I'm on my 3rd winter season here in Atlanta using these.

Just breakdown and get a set of gerbings or Widders. They both work great and you'll have nice warm hands without all the bulk.

Since 1974, I have ridden in summer gloves all winter WITH the addition of Vetter Hippo Hands. These are hard to find now, but Cabela's carries a nice set for ATVs-I haven't tried them though.

I have a set of Gerbings glove liners. These are basic cotton gloves with the electric wires woven onto the back of the gloves. They warm very nicely. My only gripe is that dealing with the wires and then whatever gloves you wear over the liners gets to be a bit busy. I have thought about the grip heaters shown in another post and also have thought about "Hot Grips" My concern with those is that the part of my hand that gets the coldest is the part that is farthest away from the grip so I'm not so sure how effective they'd be. There is another grip heating option that I've seen in the Aerostich (rider warehouse) catalog that is an electric wrap you put on the grips. It fastens with velcro.... super simple install and removal.

I am on my second season using Gerbing gloves (and I have the jacket liner also). They are a little pricey but if you use them on one or two rides a year you will be happy you spent the $$.

For those real cold(read 30's here in N. Fl. tomorrow morning) I went to Sports Authority and got some ski gloves with a removable liner. A little bulky, but warmer than my thinsulate lined leather ones. Why they sell ski gloves in Fl. is beyond me.

My hands & feet really freeze during these long Indiana winters. I've bought untold number of gloves and socks to attempt to keep my hands and feet warm. I'm still looking. for something to keep my fingers and toes warm and extend riding and keep this winter riding " down time" to a minimum

I've avoided the real solution  Moving to somewhere far away from Indiana where the sun shines daily and the frost rarely if never happens. Maybe, one day

Less than $25. I've ridden hundreds of miles in high 20s~low 30s with my summer gloves on, and they work like a charm. Ugly: but effective. Warm and water proof, plenty of room for controls. Over about 90 you need to keep the wind pressure from pressing on the clutch and brake, but otherwise no problem.

I have the Gerbing gloves and Jacket liner and I love them. They cost a lot  but I would want to run below 40 without them.
I would like to try Mellows grip heaters too. You can't beat the price. :D
Gerbings or Widder electrics are the ONLY way to go when it gets down below 30... I am comfortable in them to about 10 degrees,... had both widders in the past and now have gerbings... like Hotdog says, the wires get a little PITA but once you get used to the fact that you have to plug in and UNPLUG before you get off the bike, they are a minor PITA at that point.. point being, that you get to still ride when its freakin kold out....
