Thanks for all the input, everyone. I would especially like to thank Road Runner, Highlander, KCK, and Ron Bou for their input, among others.

This subject is dead. I will not bring it up again on this board.

The only thing that disappoints me is the apparent age bias that I have seen in some of the replies.

Everyone ride safe and long.

Solo 1, I think that the discussion was a healthy one, everyone was civil and proceeded to agree or disagree depending upon their personal viewpoint. Personal views on loud pipes, politics, sports or religion are going to solicit a myriad of differing opinions.

I think that you are only as old as you feel. I've seen some 20 somethings lack the drive and initiative of my 90 year old mother. The difference in this board and some others is that we can discuss topics such as loud pipes, still remain friends and board participants, how refreshing. I am in the process of redoing my exhaust to glass-packs. I maybe disappointed with the results but I feel that the Valkyrie is sorely lacking in the exhaust department. In my opinion, such a fine performance motorcycle needs to sound a little more ferocious. I am keeping my stock exhaust, just in case

Hope that I can make the next BBQ in Northern Indiana

I myself (and I believe others) were reacting to the post which someone stated that they had been there and done that when they were young and now the claim is older and wiser. This was not a part of your original post. However, the comment rubbed some of us "youngins" the wrong way. Just like puppies, rub 'em the wrong way and they get all riled up!

My comment, "if it's too loud..." was directed at an attitude not a numerical calculation based upon the day of one's birth. Just like Sarge commented, I know "old" people with more spit and vinegar than a lot of "young" people.

My apologies if I offended you.

We're darn near neighbors and I hate strife between neighbors...
Have a Great Day!

Solo1,
I agree with Sarge & Hollywood. I run cobra w/o baffles but I respect
my neighbors & the people I ride with. Most the time I'll ride
in the back just in case someone has a problem with my pipes.
But most people are really surprised how mellow the pipes are
if you're not hammering on them.
I feel their are enough laws already on the books that no one
enforces. :cop2: As far as the age thing goes, I think you'll have to
admit that it's mostly older people that do all the bitching about
the noise and as Hollywood quoted ( been there , done that & now I'm
older & wiser and think I know better. )
I won't apologize for voicing my opinion on this board to
a ? that was ask. But if you didn't want to hear the way people
feel then you should not have ask. Not everyone thinks the way
you or I think.
Ride Safe and Enjoy... :biker:

Thanks a lot, guys, for taking the time to respond again.
I appreciate the clarifications about your previous comments.
I too, was young once. Some days I still fell young. The fact that I can still ride at 75 is a blessing to me. The fact that I am able to help my neighbors as their councilman, is another blessing to me. The fact that I have made good friends in the BBR and VRCC is still another blessing.

Ride on, Guys and gals. I, MAD6gun, and CD6Shooter hope to see many of you at our second hamburger and hot dog rally in New Haven next year.
