View Full Version : How fast do you like to ride?
Since we're all riding big bikes here I thought this might be an interesting poll.

 I voted for slightly above
but really depends on weather, road conditions, traffic, etc. You all know that I would never exceed the limit of my Valk's speedometer :D or ride faster than my Guardian Angel can Fly

If so then right at or just above the limit. If I'm alone then usually 65 on country roads and highways, then 75 mph on interstates.

I usually ride just above the speed limit. On Interstates I generally go with the flow.
However, I do ride the posted limits in school zones with kids present, as we all should do.
Depends on the mood.
If I'm in a hurry to get somewhere, I run over the limit about 10 to 15.
If I'm out ofr a relief builder, I'll run just over, right at, and even below.
School zones, no matter what the mood and the YELLOW light is flashing, I se it right on 25 and stay there.
If I'm leading a group, I ride no faster than the worst rider can handle it.
If it is raining, under the posted. If it is in the fall and leaves are all over the road, it is WELL under the posted.......
 :P  :D   :?:

I ride whatever is comfortable on the road I am on unless I know there is a "bear" around the corner. I guess that usually means from 35 to 90.

When leading my R & R (Retired and Riding) group, I usually try to stay at about 5 miles over based on the conditions. I use the GPS for the MPH instead of the speedometer reading on the bike, as it is more accurate.
When riding alone it can be anywhere I feel safe again based on the conditions of the road, weather, etc.
Actually, I feel it is the quality of each ride ... not so much the speed.

Having ridden behind you on the Cherohala. You on the Kawa and me on the Valk. You know my feelings about speed.

Speed limits are irrelevant if there are other cars around. Above may not work, below may not work...I ride with the traffic...not the slowest out there...not the fastest either...

I took a similar pole on the VRCC board. The difference was I asked about riding the interstate in rush hour and how one should ride. The general consensus was that you should go with the flow... and maybe just a little faster.

I go with the flow, or a touch faster when by myself, which is 90% of the time.

Roll'n with the flow if conditions allow, But following Mojobob, or Murdoc, Cowboy, or Bones is not as easy! :P But I can do if pervoked....hehehe. Now Highlander...well that's a different story!
I usually run what I'm comfortable with for the road conditions, or
5 to 10 over,or with the flow.... I think this means what ever .........
its illegal to ride over the posted speed limit.
